Heamit, I'm probably I'm not the first forum member to consider the following, but I didn't see any discussion of it: what about keeping a collection up-to-date as we see is necessary, while at the same time maintaining a record of what has been found in the past?

In the All Aircraft in Flight collection, for example, it's always very exciting when a rare or unique plane is spotted in an image. If that image is later replaced, it shouldn't take away from the fact that something very unique existed in Google Earth at one time. Say, theoretically, that two Sopwith Camels crashed in midair just as a photo was made and is brought later into GE. The fact that something like that was documented in GE would certainly be very interesting (not for the pilots admittedly, but this scenario is just an exercise). Someday that image will be refreshed, and it would be a pity to delete the post from the AAiF collection simply because the latest image doesn't contain that event.

In such cases perhaps the relevant post could stay in the collection, but with the placemark for the GE app and for Google Maps removed so that people don't go looking for it. Better yet: add a screen shot of such events (before it's too late).

Admittedly this would not be advisable for every post in the community, whether in a collection or not, but it's sad to think of those wonderful findings that have already disappeared.

Opinions?
