Hi Tom,
We have a "kindergarten" class which is 5-year-olds. That makes our year one (we call it "first grade") 6-year olds. So fourth graders mostly start out as nine-year old. By the end of fifth grade, most of my students are 11.

Sounds like we teach pretty much the same group of kids!
