Giant sinkhole (over 300 feet deep) caves in over night on February 24, 2007 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Two teenagers confirmed dead, a third missing.
I believe this is the exact location of the sinkhole based on aerial photos published in news stories. I looked for the same street configurations and then evaluated this location based on buildings and trees. Viewed with Google Earth, you can tilt the view and see the terrain. Clearly the location is about 200 feet above several tributaries of creeks and a river. According to city officials a blocked sewage pipe was the cause of the disaster.
