Dear Jaybakes72,

Thanks for your post....

In 1972, The Town of Braintree, MA, in co-operation with the Parks & Recreation Department, established a Rope Tow along the edge of the woods. The 'ski slope' was on the school property. I am also from Braintree, MA and I taught skiing here during the 1973/74 and 1974/75 Seasons. I have photographs in storage. If I can find some time to dig 'em up, I'll post 'em here. It is true, there is very little slope, it's barely enough for a good tabbogan ride, however the Ski School Students were primarily Housewives and School Students whom had never skied before, so the descent was sufficient to teach basic 'Snowplow' and 'Stem Christie' techniques. Once students were comfortable with their basic instruction, most then graduated to Blue Hills Ski Hill in nearby Canton, MA (where I was also involved with Egon Zimmerman's Ski School).

It may not be Chamonix, but it was indeed an Official, Town Sanctioned, Ski Slope, for several years, and I skied it, so I posted it.

Your friend ,
SkiBumRick
